The Rebozo Wrap

Closing the Bones
The Rebozo is the name of a long, often colourful, stretch of woven cotton fabric, used by women in Central America in their daily lives – they carry their children, they wrap their pregnant belly for support, they wrap their waist or hips when there’s an ache.

Closing the Bones is/was a ceremony created to support the post-partum woman by literally helping her body regain its own beingness and moving bones and organs back to their place within the body after birth.

However, this very nurturing, supportive treatment is not exclusively destined for mothers.

It is for every female or male body, for every person, at any age, who has gone through, or is going through, an experience that marks a transition in life. (birth, divorce, loss, job change, marriage, moving home, etc).

There are areas of our body that log emotional stress or unresolved trauma of any nature.

The hips particularly carry the burden of our pain and stress, causing blockages at varying levels that impact our ability to navigate life fully, being emotionally and physically present. 

The ceremony and/or treatment may support the releasing of emotions and patterns in the moment or the effects may be felt in the days or weeks following the treatment.

At the very least, it will be experienced as a very profound moment of self-care in the safe and nurturing space held by me.

This is an in-person modality only, either in your home or in my healing space.

The treatment involves abdominal massage, rocking and wrapping and will last at least 1 hour, more if ceremony is included.
